Versatility and skill on multiple instruments are the mark of an accomplished percussionist and our children tried several instruments for size - ones that “clicky-clacked, things going “gong”, and ones that “boom-crashed” too.
The children tried their hand at creating basic rock rhythms - the noise was huge but after a few practices they came very close. The session highlight was LIVE musical statues. Everyone started with an instrument until the conductor gave the signal for stop, the last person playing was out! This taught us timing, how to follow a conductor and awareness of your fellow musicians - together we created 'music' - doing our own thing just sounded like an awful din.
At the end of the session, our arms ached from all that shaking, hitting and banging but we cant wait to do it again!
